May 2026: a month full of music, warmth, and celebration at Cumberland View Aged Care
May 2026 was a beautifully full month at Cumberland View Aged Care, and our residents were spoilt for choice from start to finish.
We began the month in wonderful style. Mother’s Day was marked with a sumptuous afternoon tea that made our ladies feel like royalty, with families joining us to share in the occasion. The same week, we celebrated Cinco de Mayo with cultural cuisine inspired by Mexico, enjoyed live music from Alicia O’Brien and the talented Baruch, and rounded out the week by baking cupcakes together. A busy, joyful few days that set the tone for the whole month.
Our gardens were looking beautiful in the autumn sunshine, and we made the most of them. We also danced in our chairs to the Golden Girls, sang with Steph Renouf, and moved to the beat with Jose. Milo the therapy dog from Miracle Paws made not one but two appearances during the month, and it is safe to say the dog cuddles were among the most popular moments on the calendar. A big paw shake to Luke and Milo for visiting us.
Chair Tai Chi with Chris kept us moving with purpose, while crafting, bowls, games, and knitting kept our hands and minds busy throughout the week. Happy hour with Margie D on Friday was, as always, the perfect way to close out the week.
The final stretch of the month brought a wonderful run of live performances. Susan Graham’s harp recital was a beautiful and peaceful experience, Laurel McKenna delivered a lovely Mother’s Day concert, and Jeanette and Marco rounded things out with a performance full of energy and joy. We also headed out on a bus trip to Pinewood to catch a screening of The Sheep Detectives, a thoroughly enjoyable outing.
We closed the month by acknowledging our nurses on International Nurses Day. Their dedication and hard work make Cumberland View Aged Care the warm, caring home that it is, and we are grateful for every one of them.
What a month. We hope you enjoyed every moment of it as much as we did.
